2019 started with a lot of hope, a big plan and a healthy amount of nerves as I faced the big transition away from working a 9-5 job and relying fully on my photography business to support my family. I created a spokesmodel team to help me through the transition as well as to provide me with a team of solid kids to create the images I had been dreaming of seeing. in the world. When I look back over 2019 I can say with confidence that it was everything I dreamed of and more. As we wrap up the year (and a decade!) I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from 2019 with you.
1. Wildflower sessions with Soaring Dreams Ranch, LLC
Wildflower sessions with Soaring Dreams Ranch, LLC- The arizona wildflowers showed up in all their splendor in 2019 and I took full advantage of the stunning landscapes they created. I loved the joy and wonder it inspired in all of us.
2. Sand Dunes
A session I had dreamed of doing for ages and I decided to FINALLY do it one day in July. I packed a couple of my spokesmodels and their moms into my car for this day trip to the Yuma Sand Dunes. Our 9 hour adventure was filled with the alphabet game, laughter, heat and sand but it was so worth it.
3. Like a Girl
If you’ve followed my business for long, you know I’m all in for any session that encourages or empowers young girls. This session was remarkable because the kids and their parents came to the sessions excited and full of ideas for their images. I loved the collaborative feeling of these session.
4. Whimsy
This session marked the completion of my little studio. I styled it with all the items I love best, carousel horses, stars, clouds and beautiful children.
5. Family Adventures
Tired of the same locations around town and with less on my plate this year, I opened up family sessions for bookings anywhere in Arizona. These sessions took me to Sedona, The Mogollon Rim, and Sunset point. The images we created in these places were stunning and left me dreaming of new places to try in 2020.
6. Powder Sessions
I might be cheating a little with these ones as I started offering them in 2018. The sessions were a mess, the timing was difficult but the dancers made it all worth it as they patiently jumped over and over again as I asked them for ‘one more time’.
7. Afro Squad Carousel
I closed out the year with a session from one of my favorite ongoing series of all time! I selected the Freestone carousel for the location because I wanted the backdrop of the images to be as magical as these beauties.
8. Arizona State Fair
These fun colorful sessions are always a favorite. This year I took my spokesmodel team to the fair for a funky, colorful session designed to capture their happy spirits in a playful setting.
9. Tiny Tea Party
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t have TWO sessions with Soaring Dreams Ranch in my top 10. Little Kirby and baby Bazinga were perfect gentleman at this tea party for littles.
10. Mommy & Me
When I became a mom, I gained a new perspective on mommy & me pictures. It’s transformed the way I capture this relationship and I loved seeing the result of this in our May sessions.
