I love the creative and uniquye requests all the families brought to their sessions this year. It was truly a year of capturing individual personalities and I absolutely loved it!
But Ashlyn’s session was the hardest to pull off. In the spring of 2020 we had a super bloom here in Arizona. Everywhere you turned there were different wildflowers blooming. However, 2021 followed it dry and dusty. I spent hours upon hour upon hours driving the entire valley watching for blooms of any kind. I found patches here and there that I used for some of my senior sessions, but the vision for Ashlynn was an open field.
As May approached I had given up. I knew of a small pasture with teeny tiny purple flowers that I had decided to use. I knew if we didn’t shoot something soon, all that would be left was the dirt that the summer heat brings on here in Arizona. THREE DAYS before our scheduled session I was driving my son to preschool and got stuck in traffic causing me to take a small detour and THERE IT WAS.

It was pure magic. I still cannot believe we managed to pull this off in the driest spring yet. I’m obsessed with the simply whimsy of these images. It feels like the essence of spring and cannot wait to take my little girl back there to do pictures with her!
